Walking Contradiction

By Posted in - Strong Girl News on September 20th, 2012 9 Comments

We are all walking contradictions.

Allow me to use myself as an example;

I am an introvert who loves nothing more than to sit in thoughtful, prayerful silence, overlooking a garden or some form of water in introspection, I could’ve been a monk, I think.

But the spirit in me likes to talk, a LOT, gets giddy about the notion of helping women unload unnecessary baggageis not afraid to make a spectacle of herself to make a point, and dreams big.  In fact, if Audrey Hepburn and Seth Godin had a love child I might be it.  Weird, huh?

It is no wonder we struggle with who to be and how to show-up when our insides are frequently in contradiction.  Your heart dreams, desires, loves and is full of beauty.  Your soul beckons: be more, grow, express…and your head is yelling what the heck are you thinking, you’re not this, you’re too much that, blah blah, you know the talk.

You’ve heard it before, mind and spirit, ego and soul, a tug-o-war between flesh and spirit, and it isn’t going away.  Well what is a girl to do when you’re all of this, the whole conversation is real and happening?  Choose.  Pick the thing, the conversation, that lights you up, lifts you up, and then no matter what your mind thinks, go share it with as many people as you can.

Get real good and comfortable choosing the right voice (God whispering in your soul), and eventually the other voices get quieter and more irrelevant in the conversation.  Pick the voice that loves you the best, the one that says you matter, you’re lovely and smart, and everyone wants to hear what you have to say.

Accept your own inner contradiction & conversation, it’s interesting, makes you more you, and will make your TED Talk fun to listen to. GO Messy YOU!
